Based upon E. M. Forster`s best-selling novel, this scintillating period drama follows a rich Edwardian widow (Helen Mirren) who impulsively marries a handsome but completely penniless Tuscan dentist (Rupert Graves) in Italy. Following a brief but passionate marriage she dies in childbirth and her English family decide to travel to Italy in order to bring the child back home to England and out of poverty. But the prim and proper English ladies are unprepared for the drama that will unfold among the rolling hills of Tuscany.
