The Golden Rule: 4K UHD
4K UHD discs are entirely region-free. Regardless of where the disc was manufactured or where you live, a 4K UHD disc will play on any 4K UHD Blu-ray player worldwide.
Blu-ray Region Codes
Standard Blu-rays (1080p) are divided into three main zones:

| Region A | North America, South America, East Asia (excl. China), Southeast Asia |
| Region B | Europe, UK, Africa, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand |
| Region C | Russia, China, Central & South Asia |
DVD Region Codes
DVDs use a more granular system of six major regions:

If you are using a standard, store-bought player in the United States, use this cheat sheet:

| Region B or C Blu-ray | ⚠️ No — Requires a Region-Free Player. |
| Region 1 DVD | ✅ Yes — The US is in Region 1. |
| All-Region DVD | ✅ Yes — Plays on any player. |
| Other DVD Regions | ⚠️ No — Requires a Region-Free Player. |
What is a Region-Free Player?
A region-free (or multi-region) player is a device modified to bypass these geographic locks. Many enthusiast-grade players are sold this way. If you aren't sure if yours is "unlocked," check your manual or search your model number online.
